Graduate Student Awards!
Congratulations to Cancer Biology Graduate Students Kayla Nelson & Evelyn Jiagge on their recent Rackham Awards!
Congratulations to Cancer Biology Graduate Student Kayla Nelson who has been awarded a Rackham Summer Award stipend for the Spring/Summer 2015 term. The Rackham Summer Award will enable graduate students enrolled in a Rackham program to work on research, scholarly, or creative projects in collaboration with faculty mentors during Spring/Summer 2015 (May, 2015 through August, 2015).
Congratulations also goes out to Cancer Biology Evelyn Jiagge who was selected to receive the 2015-2016 Yossi Schiff Award from Rackham. Yossi Schiff received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 2005. Born in Israel and proud of his Jewish heritage, Yossi was an enthusiastic traveler who enjoyed his sojourns in Africa and Southeast Asia. This award honors his memory--his open mind and kind heart, the concern he showed for others, and his passion and curiosity in life. Designed to promote international understanding and offer an educational opportunity to foreign graduate students in need, the Yossi Schiff Memorial Scholarship Fund is a fitting tribute to a young man who cared deeply for the world around him and tried to foster values of mutual respect between people, cultures and nations. The Fund was established by Rackham alumnus Peter Hauslohner and his family.
Great job Kayla & Evelyn!
